Airbnb continues to expand the power and potential of its “live like a local” ethos with captivating Facebook Live broadcasts. For each production, Butcher Bird works with the Airbnb and TBWA\Chiat\Day teams to execute the technical and production challenges of broadcasting live from a range of environments using the kind of high quality film and audio equipment normally associated with network television programming.

Our work began with an award-winning live campaign launched in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the National Parks and has continued with the creation of a dynamic new series called #LiveFrom. The pilot brought TBWA\Chiat\Day and Butcher Bird together for a co-production with National Geographic and Airbnb to cover the Roswell UFO Festival.

The results have been astonishing and delightful: millions of viewers engaged across hours of viewing featuring hosts, guests, and locations that perfectly fit the Airbnb brand. We’ve also created a wealth of supplemental social material—from photography to documentary—that expands the reach of the original live shows and continues to engage audience members well after the conclusion of the original broadcasts.
